Guardian Pharmacy Services Expands Virginia Footprint with Acquisition of Wellness Concepts

Guardian Pharmacy Services has expanded its presence in Virginia through the acquisition of Wellness Concepts, a long-term care pharmacy based in Grottoes, Va. The addition expands Guardian's footprint to three pharmacies serving Northern, Southwest, and Central Virginia, strengthening the company's ability to support the growing demand for long-term care pharmacy services across the state.

Founded in 1999, Wellness Concepts has a strong reputation throughout the Shenandoah Valley region for providing high-quality pharmacy services to residents in assisted living, skilled nursing, and behavioral health communities, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. President Brent Atwell, a second-generation pharmacist, will continue to lead the pharmacy, which will retain its existing leadership and staff.

As with Guardian's other acquisitions, this pharmacy will benefit from the company's unique business model, which combines local pharmacy leadership and decision-making with centralized corporate support. This allows the local team to remain focused on customer service and the specialized needs of the communities and residents they serve, while Guardian's Corporate Support Team assists with complex behind-the-scenes business functions, including data analytics, HR, IT, payor relations, national sales and more.
