Chinese Consul General in Sydney Wang Yu Attends 2026 Sydney Dragon Boat Festival

From 28 February to 1 March, the 2026 Sydney Dragon Boat Festival was held at Darling Harbour, Sydney. The Consulate-General of China in Sydney formed a "China LOONG" team to participate in the competition. H.E. Consul General Wang Yu led Consulate-General diplomats to cheer on the team and gave interviews to several Chinese and Australian media. He stated that dragon boat racing, which originated in China, symbolizes solidarity and forging ahead with determination. The annual Dragon Boat Festival held in Sydney fully demonstrates the integration of fine traditional Chinese culture with Australian multiculturalism, and enables more Australians to gain a better understanding of the positive, healthy lifestyle and enterprising spirit of the Chinese people.

This year's festival attracted more than 100 professional club teams and over 60 corporate and community teams. The atmosphere at the venue was enthusiastic, with resounding cheers throughout.

After the competition, Deputy Consul General Wang Chunsheng, together with Ricky Chong, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney, presented awards to the winning teams.
