Wentworth's hands-on learning model for STEM education and strong real-world outcomes have been recognized in the latest Carnegie Classifications. Wentworth was one of only five schools nationwide--fewer than 1% of nearly 4,000 institutions--to be designed as both a Special Focus: Technology, Engineering, and Sciences institution and an Opportunity College and University - Higher Access, Higher Earnings.

"It's heartening to see that we are being recognized for both our academic focus areas and the return on investment and social mobility we are able to provide our students," says President Mark A. Thompson, PhD. "It's reinforcement that we are truly 'the university of opportunity®."

Wentworth has been designated as one of the country's "Opportunity Colleges and Universities-Higher Access, Higher Earnings" in recognition of the high level of access to education we provide to the communities we serve, and the high earnings of our graduates compared to peers in the area. Wentworth's powerful combination of hands-on learning, required co-op experiences, and student-centered services enables our graduates to achieve top earningsin their first jobs and throughout their careers. This impact has been recognized by national media including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, U.S. News & World Reportand the New York Times.

Wentworth has also been classified as a Special Focus: Technology, Engineering, and Sciences institution in recognition that more than 50% of our undergraduate degrees are awarded in these fields. Wenworth offers 25 programs of study leading to a BS degreeand 11 master's degree programs.

For many years, Wentworth has also been designated as a Community Engagement institution for the many ways in which we help address local challenges and collaborate with our communities, including dual-credit programs, RAMP summer bridge program, and our STRIVE programfor youth with disabilities. Wentworth is one of 368 institutions who are active holders of this important designation.
