Joelle Rollins-Kent brings more than a decade of progressively responsible experience in university housing and residence life.

Joelle L. Rollins-Kent ORANGEBURG, S.C. - South Carolina State University has appointed Joelle L. Rollins-Kent as the new director of residence life and housing.

"I am excited to have Ms. Rollins join our team and look forward to the leadership, innovation, and student-centered vision she will bring to our residential community," said Dr. Tamara Jeffries, vice president for student affairs. "Her leadership will be instinctual in fostering safe, inclusive, and engaging residential environments that support student success both inside and outside of the classroom."

As the director, Rollins-Kent provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the university's residential communities. Her duties include overseeing residence hall operations, occupancy and housing assignments while supervising housing staff, including professional, administrative and student community advisers.

She also collaborates with Student Life and Leadership, Public Safety, Facilities, Enrollment Management and other campus partners, ensuring that students have a safe, supportive and engaging living environment.

Rollins-Kent brings more than a decade of progressively responsible experience in university housing and residence life, with leadership positions at the College of Coastal Georgia, Georgia State University, Clark Atlanta University and the University of Cincinnati. Most recently, she served as interim director of Residence Life and University Housing at the College of Coastal Georgia, where she oversaw housing operations for more than 700 students.

Throughout her career, she has supervised professional and student staff, managed housing operations and budgets, coordinated crisis response and student conduct processes, and developed programs that foster student success, leadership and engagement. She also has extensive experience with the StarRez housing management system, overseeing room assignments, occupancy management, inventory and other key housing operations.

Rollins-Kent holds a Master of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
