IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, RACQ Insurance, CGU, WFI and ROLLiN', is urging residents to make safety their priority as heavy rainfall and flooding continue to impact parts of Queensland.
On Thursday 12 March, the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) declared a Significant Event for the heavy rainfall and flooding impacting the Bundaberg region and Burnett River catchment.
Prolonged downfalls have led to rising river levels in parts of the state, IAG Executive Manager of Flood, Bushfire and Climate Andrew Dyer said the main flood peak has now passed Bundaberg, with river levels falling below the major flood threshold late Wednesday afternoon.
"The river is currently falling after peaking in Bundaberg on Wednesday morning, though it remained lower than the 2010 and 2013 flood levels. However, a Not Safe to Return warning remains in place for parts of Bundaberg as floodwaters continue to recede," Mr Dyer said.
"An emergency warning has been issued for Chinchilla, where residents in low-lying areas are being advised to prepare for major flooding in Charleys Creek today. Flood conditions can change quickly, so follow advice from local emergency services and stay informed through your local media outlets."
As of Wednesday morning, IAG has received 359 claims across its brands related to the severe weather event.
IAG Executive General Manager Claims Luke Gallagher said IAG is mobilising to provide on-the-ground support to impacted customers, and urged residents to continue to follow the directions of emergency authorities.
"Severe floods have devastating impacts on communities. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the people who tragically lost their lives in these floods," Mr Gallagher said.

"We've mobilised our claims teams to impacted areas, with our property assessing teams already on the ground surveying damage. We will be at the dedicated recovery centre in Bundaberg on Friday 13 March, supporting customers across all IAG brands.
"If you've been affected by flooding or storm damage, we encourage you to contact your insurer online, over the phone or in-person as soon as possible so you can receive support and lodge your claim."
"If you've been instructed to evacuate, make sure you do not to return to your property until emergency services have deemed it safe to do so.
"When starting the clean-up process take photos or videos of damaged belongings, dispose of water or mud-damaged goods that might be a health risk, and always contact your insurer before authorising or attempting any clean-up work - we're here to help you."
Returning to your property after a flood:
If you have returned to your property and are starting the clean-up following a flood, here are some tips you can follow as part of your claim:
Take photos or videos of damage to your property and belongings to help with your claim.
Keep samples of materials and fabrics to show your insurance assessor, which will help with sourcing replacement materials.
Remove water or mud-damaged goods from your property that might be a health risk, such as saturated carpets and soft furnishings.
Speak to your insurer before you attempt or authorise any building work, including emergency repairs, and ask for the insurer's permission in writing.
Discard all rotten food and any damaged furnishings or furniture.
