Four Henderson State University aviation students were recently awarded scholarships by the Arkansas Aviation Historical Society. The AAHS funds and awards the scholarships annually to encourage young people to pursue careers in aviation.
Scholarship were awarded to:
"Every October, Henderson aviation students compete with other aviation students statewide for the scholarships to assist them with their flight training expenses," said Rich Wyman, director of the Arkansas Aviation Academy at Henderson State. "Students submit an essay and attend a personal interview with members of the AAHS selection committee."
The students were honored at an awards banquet Nov. 13 in Little Rock.
The AAHS was founded in 1979 to promote and preserve the history of aviation in Arkansas, and to encourage future generations to pursue aviation through scholarships, recognition, and archival work.
Henderson offers associate and bachelor's degrees in aviation as well as a Master of Business Administration degree with an aviation management focus. Additionally, the newly launched Arkansas Aviation Academy at Henderson State provides commercial multi-engine licensure for non-degree seeking pilots.
Henderson State aviation is growing with 129 students enrolled for Fall 2025 - the highest enrollment since Fall 2022. Henderson added two planes to its fleet this summer and employs 14 certified flight instructors.
