Council President Sabrina Madison Honors Next Generation of Black Excellence

In honor of Juneteenth, Common Council President Sabrina Madison is highlighting youth leaders during the Common Council's annual Juneteenth recognition. It's a great opportunity to celebrate five young leaders and two adult leaders from Madison for their achievements. Networking will take place on Tuesday, June 9th, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, just before the Common Council meeting at 6:30 PM.

President Madison aims to ensure that Black youth in our community are recognized for their commitment to excellence. This recognition honors not only their personal achievements but also the positive impact their hard work has on our city. The student recipients were nominated by various youth-focused organizations in Madison. We extend our gratitude to the following organizations for nominating these outstanding youth: Rooted at Badger Rock Neighborhood Center, Bridge Lake Point Waunona Neighborhood Center, The House Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County, and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

During her time as alder, President Madison wants to formally honor individuals across our city who embody the values inclusive leadership and actively create solutions.
