Rep. Sewell Accepting Applications for Spring 2026 Internships

Washington D.C. - The Washington D.C. and district offices of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) are currently accepting applications for spring 2026 interns. College students and recent graduates interested in government and public service are invited to apply for a chance to spend the semester learning about the inner workings of a congressional office. Interns will work closely with Rep. Sewell's staff on a variety of important legislative, communications, and administrative tasks. Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university (juniors and older) or have recently graduated.

"Interns play a key role in my office," said Rep. Sewell. "Each semester, our interns work alongside me and my staff to serve the people of Alabama's 7th Congressional District. Through this experience, they build practical skills, gain firsthand insight into public service, and form connections that help prepare them for their careers. If you have an interest in government and public service, I encourage you to apply!"

Interns will have the opportunity to research legislation, draft letters, compile media clips, answer constituent calls, and attend legislative hearings, briefings, and seminars. Candidates should be proactive, professional, dependable, and have an interest in federal policy and the legislative process. Candidates should also possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to multitask, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

The Office of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in the hiring process based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, military service, or other non-merit factors. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 5, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CST (6:00 p.m. EST). For more information, including how to apply, visit https://sewell.house.gov/internship-opportunities.
