On 17 March, the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania was opened in the town of Altena, located in an important industrial and innovation region in North West Germany of North Rhine-Westphalia, which enjoys a strong partnership with Lithuania.
The event marked an important step towards strengthening economic, cultural and social relations between Lithuania and Germany, in particular the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, and Bremen.
The Honorary Consulate is located in a historic building of the 13th century, which symbolically connects the region's historical heritage with contemporary international cooperation.
At the event, Lithuania's Ambassador to Germany, Giedrius Puodžiūnas, thanked Professor Jürgen Gramke, former Honorary Consul of Lithuania in North Rhine-Westphalia, for his long-standing work and significant contribution to strengthening ties between Lithuania and the region, and wished the new Honorary Consul Dr Andreas Hollstein to continue active efforts to develop cooperation between Lithuania and Germany.
