Update on Construction Projects in Lake Tahoe

Placer/El Dorado Counties - Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka with various work scheduled along SR 28 next week:

• Drainage work between Jackpine Street and Lake Forest Road (east), one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, August 2, to 7 a.m. Monday, August 3.
• Between Lake Forest Road (east) and Robert Avenue, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, to 7 a.m. Tuesday, August 4.
• Between Onyx Street and Lardin Way, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, to 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 5.
• Between Onyx Street and Estates Drive, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, to 7 a.m. Thursday, August 6.
• Between Laurel Drive and Beach Street, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Thursday, August 6, to 7 a.m. Friday, August 7.
• Utility work at Granite Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, August 4.
• Drainage work is scheduled in the westbound direction along the shoulder between Deer Street and Secline Street in Kings Beach from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday, August 3, through Thursday, August 6. Work is also scheduled Friday, August 7, from 7 a.m. to noon.
• Electrical work is scheduled in the westbound direction along the shoulder between Brassie Avenue and Beach Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday, August 3, through Thursday, August 6. Work is also scheduled Friday, August 7, from 7 a.m. to noon.

Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City is scheduled to be closed for deck surfacing work from 8 p.m. Monday, August 3, until 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, and from 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, until 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 5.

Along State Route 89 (SR 89), construction on a $20.8 million pavement rehabilitation project ramps up with pavement work scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at various locations between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, August 2, through Friday, August 7. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is also Teichert Construction.

Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in Placer and El Dorado counties during the following dates and times:

• Between Cathedral Drive and the SR 28 junction in Tahoe City, one-way traffic control is scheduled starting each night at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 2, through Thursday, August 6. Work is scheduled to finish Monday, August 3, at 7 a.m.; Tuesday, August 4, through Thursday, August 6, at 10 a.m.; and Friday, August 7, at 7 a.m.
• Between Madden Creek in Homewood and Barker Pass Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled starting each night at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 2, through Wednesday, August 5. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Monday, August 3, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, through Thursday, August 6.
• Between Eagle Point Campground and Eagle Falls Trailhead, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, August 2, through Friday, August 7. No work is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
• Between Fern Street and St. Michaels Court, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. Thursday, August 6, to 7 a.m. Friday, August 7.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, or other unexpected events.
