Board of Supervisors to Consider Climate & Habitat Resiliency Plan Funding, April 8

April 7, 2025

On Tuesday, April 8, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will consider authorization of the San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD) and San Mateo County Parks to use of CAL Fire Forest Health Grant Program funds to implement the Pescadero Creek Park's Climate and Habitat Resiliency Plan. The Plan was developed following the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Fire that burned over 2,800 acres of Pescadero Creek Park.

The Plan is focused nurturing the Park's native species, habitats, and ecosystems that are more resilient to climate change and events, including fire and disease. The Board will also consider allowing the Parks Department to sell raw felled timber that can't be used in the park in other ways, including improving habitat features. Sale of timber could offset project costs.
