VICTORY FOR GUN SAFETY: Peggy Flanagan Elected to Represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters elected Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.

"Minnesota just sent a fighter to the Senate, someone who will push back on the Trump administration's attempts to gut the gun safety laws that protect our families," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown congratulates Senator-elect Flanagan, and we look forward to working with her in Washington."

"Peggy Flanagan built her career fighting for Minnesota's children, and as a mom, she understands the fear too many parents in this state carry with them every day," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "She'll take that understanding to the Senate at a time when Washington badly needs it. Our movement is thrilled for her, and for every Minnesota family she'll fight for."

"Peggy Flanagan has always shown up for families like ours, and now she'll have a seat in the U.S. Senate to keep doing it," said Todd Jelen, a volunteer with the Minnesota chapter of Moms Demand Action. "As Minnesota parents, we couldn't ask for a better voice in Washington."

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed 503 gun safety champions running at every level of government, from statehouses to governor's offices. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made more than 15 million voter contacts to help elect them.
