Ahmed Shakeeb serves as the Managing Director of PSM-Maldives

Mr. Ahmed Shakeeb currently serves as the Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM), providing strategic leadership to strengthen public broadcasting and foster informed public discourse in the Maldives. A renowned educationist, media professional, and public-sector leader, with over four decades of experience in education, governance, and public communication.

Beginning his professional journey as a primary school teacher, Mr. Shakeeb has held several key leadership roles, including Director General at the Office of the President, Director General of the National Institute of Education (NIE), and Director General of the Department of Public Examinations (DPE), contributing significantly to national education reform in the Maldives.

Mr. Shakeeb holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Education and a Bachelor of Education from Griffith University, Australia, along with professional qualifications from institutions in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. He has also completed extensive local and international training in curriculum development, environmental education, publishing, and journalism, including programmes supported by UNESCO and SAARC.

He has a strong record of voluntary service, having served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Society for Health Education (SHE), Chairman of the Maldives Youth Forum, and a member of various civil society and environmental organizations. He also worked as a presenter and a newscaster in Television Maldives (TVM) for over two decades. As an accomplished writer, editor, and translator, he is the recipient of the President's Award on Children's Publication for the story of "Bodu Thakurufaanu", reflecting his commitment to literature, language and national heritage.
