Ambassador Pelle Enarsson presents his credentials to President Kiir
On Friday, 23 January 2026, H.E. Pelle Enarsson presented his credentials to President Salva Kiir Mayardit as the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of South Sudan.
During the accreditation ceremony at the presidential palace, Ambassador Enarsson identified peace, cooperation and development as EU priority areas for his tenure.

He took over in September 2025 from Timo Olkkonen, who is now Deputy Director General of the Department for Africa and the Middle East at the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Prior to heading the EU Delegation to South Sudan, H.E. Enarsson was a senior advisor and deputy head of the UN Foundation office in New York.
