Association Sends Statement to House Committee on Energy & Commerce in Response to Hearing on Provider Affordability

The association sent a statement to the House Committee on Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee addressing the March 18 hearing titled "Lowering Health Care Costs for All Americans: An Examination of the U.S. Provider Landscape."

The statement highlights the increasingly challenging circumstances that essential hospitals are facing, including the devastating impact of Medicaid cuts, and the financial pressure of rising costs, particularly workforce expenses and pharmaceuticals.

The association called on Congress to explore ways to further support essential hospitals and their unique role, such as passing H.R. 7145, the bipartisan Reinforcing Essential Health Systems for Communities Act that would define hospitals serving a safety net role in their communities.
