Rep. Roy Pushes for Resources to Prosecute Rampant Crime and Possible Government Overthrow Scheme in Loving County, Texas

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) requests that the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas increase federal law enforcement efforts in Loving County, Texas. Loving County has sounded the alarm over rampant foreign crime and a movement behind a possible overthrow of the local government.

"On September 30, 2025, I received information from law enforcement officials whose jurisdictions encompasses Loving County, a remote West Texas community located in the Western District of Texas, that the county is facing increased interstate theft operations, including oilfield thefts, human trafficking, and other illicit activity often perpetrated by Mexican drug cartels, MS-13 gang members, and other transnational criminal organizations (TCOs)." Rep. Roy wrote. "In addition, Loving County residents are dealing with individuals recruiting people to move into the county and potentially registering to vote, claiming to eventually take over the county government by moving enough people to elect new individuals to public offices, signaling a nefarious scheme."

"Local law enforcement has referred several criminal cases to the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Western District of Texas, hoping that criminal perpetrators will be held accountable. However, local law enforcement has not yet secured recourse and continues to seek support to prosecute these cases." Roy continued. "With a lack of enforcement, communities like Loving County are left vulnerable to recurring victimization at the hands of bad actors."

"As you diligently work to fulfill the Trump administration's mandate to keep Texans and the American people safe from violent crime, drug trafficking, TCOs, terrorism, and other security threats, I request that sufficient DOJ resources be made available for Loving County and other counties in the Western District of Texas blessed with significant natural resources important to our state and national security." Roy ended.
