Laut Sinus-Jugendstudie haben bereits etwa drei Viertel der Jugendlichen zwischen 14 bis 17 Jahren im eigenen Umfeld erlebt, dass jemand psychisch belastet war. Mehr als die Hälfte der Befragten gab an, schon einmal selbst betroffen gewesen zu sein.
