Wittenberg University is currently providing a Transfer Pathway Program for students at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. Lourdes recently announced that it will close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. Through Wittenberg's program, current Lourdes' students would have the option to continue their education at Wittenberg.
"We recognize that this is a difficult time for Lourdes' students, and we want to help," said Mike Brown, vice president for enrollment management at Wittenberg. "As a fellow faith-based institution, Wittenberg University offers a mission that speaks to discerning one's calling, leadership development, and living a life of creativity, service, compassion, and integrity, all of which align with what we believe Lourdes' students are looking for in their next college home."
As part of the pathway, Lourdes' students in good standing with at least 60 completed credits can receive guaranteed admission to pursue their degrees uninterrupted, with comparable net tuition and transfer of all credits. Students would also be able to complete their degree in relatively the same amount of time. Other students in good standing with less than 60 completed credits may have the opportunity to transfer to Wittenberg and receive the same benefits of the Transfer Pathway Program.
To answer any and all questions, Wittenberg representatives will be attending transfer fairs at the Franciscan Center on the Lourdes' campus on:
• Wednesday, March 4, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• Monday, March 16, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 15, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Recognizing the importance of continuity in students' educational journeys, Wittenberg is also prepared to assist Lourdes' students in maximizing credit transfers and securing competitive financial aid packages.
Lourdes University was founded in 1958 as a sponsored ministry of its founders, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio. A liberal arts-based institution inspired by Catholic and Franciscan traditions and 13 miles outside of Toledo, the university has provided a values-centered education. A member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the school also sponsors 24 sports across men's and women's teams.
