Heritage District Prepares for Washington Avenue Partial Street Closure

Gilbert, AZ. - Town of Gilbert staff are preparing for a permanent street closure on Washington Avenue between N. Ash Street and Gilbert Road. In January, a portion of Washington Avenue, included in the South Anchor land sale located at 40 W. Elliot Road, was officially abandoned and is now private property. The developer will begin fencing the area in late January and post notices of private property.

The Gilbert Office of Economic Development is working with Fire, Traffic, and Refuse for fence placement and installation, and is preparing outreach to area residents to inform them of the permanent street closure. Gilbert will assist with posting public awareness signs noting the closure along the perimeter fencing.

The public is encouraged to visit the Digging the District website for updates on the private and public projects underway in the Heritage District.
