Summer Lunch Program returns June 1, 2026

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

The Summer Lunch Program will return June 1 and run through Aug. 7, excluding June 19 and July 3. Meal sites will operate Monday through Friday and are open to all children and teens aged 18 and younger.

Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) will serve lunch at the Armory Sports and Recreation Center, 701 E. Ash St. (rear parking lot), from noon to 1 p.m., June 1 to July 31.

Powerhouse of Columbia will also offer lunches at several locations. Please note that times may vary slightly from the Armory site. Lunch and snack schedules are as follows:

  • Columbia Housing Authority (CHA) Stuart-Parker, 225 Unity Dr.: Lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.; snack from 1:30-1:50 p.m.
  • CHA Bear Creek, 1109 Elleta Blvd.: Lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.; snack from 1:30 - 1:50 p.m.
  • Columbia Square, 1715 W. Worley St.: Lunch from 11 - 11:30 a.m.; snack from 12:50 - 1:10 p.m.
  • Indian Hills Park, 5009 Aztec Blvd.: Lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.; snack from 1:30 - 1:50 p.m
  • Welcome Inn, 1612 N. Providence: Lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.; snack from 1:30 - 1:50 p.m.
  • Demaret Drive, 718 Demaret Dr.: Lunch from 11 - 11:30 a.m.; snack from 12:50 - 1:10 p.m.
  • Hanover Estates, 1601 Hanover Blvd, Bldg. 7: Lunch from 11 - 11:30 a.m.; snack from 12:50 - 1:10 p.m.
  • Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 702 Banks Ave: Lunch from 11 a.m. to noon

The program is a partnership between Columbia Public Schools, Columbia Parks and Recreation, and Powerhouse. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through an extension of the school lunch program and aims to ensure children have access to nutritious meals during the summer.

Note for groups: If you plan to bring a large group to the Armory site, please call the WIC office (573.873.7384) at PHHS at least one day in advance between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to ensure enough meals are available.
