AAOIFI Successfully Concludes the 20th AAOIFI-IsDB Annual Islamic Banking and Finance Conference

The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) successfully concluded the 20th AAOIFI-IsDB Annual Islamic Banking and Finance conference on Monday, 3 November 2025, corresponding to 12 Jumada Al awwal 1447H, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Building on the momentum of the opening day, the second day of the conference continued to attract remarkable participation from a distinguished lineup of Islamic finance experts, senior Shari'ah scholars, policymakers, and thought leaders. Attendees included high-level representatives from regulatory bodies, leading Islamic financial institution and academic institutions from around the world, further reinforcing the global significance and impact of the conference.

The conference agenda for the day featured in-depth discussions on two high-priority topics. The first focused on entrepreneurship development through Shari'ah compliant MSME financing and creation of integrated value chains and ecosystem, examining the access that can be provided to MSMEs by Islamic capital markets through a variety of products and services, as well as the main Shari'ah compliant financing solutions offered to MSMEs to bolster their activities.

The final session of the conference addressed Salam and Istisna as tools for economic growth and development: practicality considerations, market reality and accounting challenges, with particular focus on the role of these transactions as contributors to the economic growth and development of Islamic finance market and the broader economy. In that respect, the session explored certain practical issues and existing market realities and challenges faced by Islamic financial institutions in catering to the financial reporting requirements for the same.

The conference concluded with emphasis on certain issues and the way forward regarding the main discussion topics and industry implications that have been raised and explored across the two days of the conference. The graduation ceremony of AAOIFI fellows has also been held before official conclusion of the conference.

On this occasion, H.E. Sheikh Ebrahim Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the AAOIFI Board of Trustees, expressed his gratitude to respectful dignitaries, H.E. Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, Acting Director General of Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Republic of Tatarstan and H.E. Yahya Shunnar, Governor, Palestinian Monetary Authority, Palestine ,as well as, all distinguished speakers and participants who attended and contributed to the success of the conference, including members of the AAOIFI technical boards. He also stated: "The 20th AAOIFI-IsDB Islamic banking conference has played a pivotal role in shaping the global Islamic finance industry over the past two decades.
