Parsons selected as USI Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Koryn Parsons has been named Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Southern Indiana, effective Tuesday, April 1. She has served as Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions since 2020. Parsons will report to Rashad Smith, Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions.

In this role, Parsons will oversee and lead the day-to-day operations of the recruitment team and visit coordination teams in Undergraduate Admissions. She will work collaboratively across campus to enhance recruitment efforts for traditional new freshmen and transfer student enrollment.

Parsons began working in the USI Undergraduate Admissions Office as an Admissions Counselor following her graduation in 2011. Most recently serving as Associate Director, she has over 13 years of progressive experience in Admissions, having also held roles as Senior Counselor, Assistant Director and Senior Assistant Director.

As Senior Assistant Director, she oversaw all campus visit programming and day-to-day management of the Fuquay Welcome Center, leading to key revisions in the Student Ambassador Program. These enhancements included the establishment of bilingual Ambassadors and transfer student Ambassadors to create a more personalized visit experience. She also worked closely with faculty to ensure prospective students could seamlessly schedule meetings with them when visiting campus.

As a critical member of the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team, Parsons has played a key role in mentoring and developing a strong recruitment team, contributing to increased traditional new student enrollment for the past two years. In addition to her admissions leadership, she previously served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Liberal Arts' Communications Department.

She is a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling, the Indiana Association of College Admission Counseling and the Collegiate Information and Visitor Services Association. Parsons has also served as faculty for the Indiana Cultural Opportunity Network program, designed to educate admissions and school counseling professionals in areas of student equity, access and success.

Parsons earned her bachelor's degree in public relations and advertising in 2011 and a Master of Arts in Communication in 2015, both from USI.
