In the early morning hours of Monday, March 23, 2026, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) was made aware of possible street takeover events in the areas of Northeast 158th Avenue and Northeast Airport Way and Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. While participants at the event in the Wilkes Neighborhood dispersed when officers arrived, intervention was necessary at the event near the Lloyd Center.

Officers responding to the area of Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street observed a gathering of approximately 50 to 100 individuals occupying the intersection, with multiple vehicles lining nearby streets. Additional officers were requested, and once sufficient resources were in place, law enforcement moved in at approximately 12:50 a.m. to intervene in the illegal activity. During the operation, a Ford Mustang observed performing dangerous stunts was stopped, and its driver was detained. At the same time, officers managed to stop a black Mazda that had allegedly been used to control traffic during the event. Three occupants were removed from the vehicle. Both vehicles were towed and four individuals were cited for their involvement in the event. In addition, three firearms were seized.

Seized firearms

Illegal street takeovers pose serious risks to participants, spectators, and the surrounding community, often leading to crashes, injuries, and the presence of weapons. PPB remains committed to proactive enforcement to deter this dangerous behavior, maintain public safety, and prevent these gatherings from escalating into more serious incidents.
