MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: New Weight Restriction Placed on Stone County Route M Bridge

Stone County - Signs indicating a weight limit of 20 tons for single-unit vehicles and 25 tons for combination vehicles will be installed on the Stone County Route M bridge over the James River south of Nixa, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The new load posting was introduced during the department's regular bridge inspection process, which analyzes load limitations and has been updated in accordance with Federal Highway Administration guidance.

The bridge was built in 1962. The new weight limit will be in place until the bridge is replaced. At this time, no timeframe has been set for replacing the bridge.

Previously, trucks over 36 tons had a 15-mph speed limit.
