ATLANTA - State Representative Will Wade (R-Dawsonville), a Governor's Floor Leader, recently announced that House Bill 1328, legislation he sponsored to increase the maximum number of people that can receive the University of North Georgia (UNG) military scholarships, has been signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp.
"I am grateful for Governor Kemp's support of House Bill 1328 and for my colleagues in the General Assembly who helped move this legislation forward," said Floor Leader Wade. "This is another important step toward strengthening our commitment to those who protect and serve our great state and nation. By expanding access to these scholarships, we are helping ease the financial burden of higher education for our military students so they can focus on their studies and future careers. It is a small but meaningful way to recognize the sacrifice and service we depend on every day."
HB 1328 increases the number of military scholarships awarded to students enrolled at the University of North Georgia who are part of the Georgia Army National Guard cadet program. By February first of each year, members of the General Assembly will select and nominate six to 10 students from each congressional district in Georgia. Subject to funding, at least three students from each congressional district will be awarded the scholarship.
