TEMPLE CITY, CA - Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra) joined Temple City Mayor William Man, city officials, and community members today for a ceremonial check presentation celebrating $1.5 million in state funding for the construction of Sereno Park, a new public recreational space in Temple City.
The $1.5 million investment will help transform a previously developed property into a vibrant neighborhood park, providing much-needed green space and recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. Once completed, Sereno Park will feature natural wood and boulder-based play structures, shaded lawn areas, outdoor fitness equipment, a dry stream bed, a pedestrian bridge, and other amenities designed to create a welcoming community space.
"Parks are more than just places to play. They are spaces where families create memories, neighbors build connections, and communities come together," said Assemblymember Mike Fong. "I am proud to secure $1.5 million in state funding to help bring Sereno Park to life and expand access to much-needed recreational space in Temple City. This investment reflects what we can accomplish when state and local governments work together to build stronger, healthier communities for generations to come."
With new housing developments planned nearby, Sereno Park will also serve as an important recreational resource for current and future residents, creating opportunities for outdoor activities, wellness, and neighborhood connections.
"The City of Temple City is grateful to Assemblymember Mike Fong for his leadership and commitment to securing this $1.5 million investment in our community," said Temple City Mayor William Man. "As one of the most park-poor cities in Los Angeles County, expanding access to green space has been a longstanding priority for our city. Sereno Park will transform an underutilized property into a welcoming space where families can gather, children can play, and residents can stay active."
Assemblymember Fong joined local officials to celebrate the investment and reaffirm their shared commitment to improving the quality of life for Temple City residents.
