MALAYSIA ELECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE ASIAN AND PACIFIC CENTRE FOR TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY FOR THE TERM 2026-2029

Malaysia has been successfully elected to the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) for the term 2026-2029.

The election took place during the 82nd Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on 21 April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. Malaysia was among eight countries elected to serve on the APCTT Governing Council.

As a key body under the UNESCAP, the APCTT plays an important role in strengthening technical cooperation among its members and associate members. It promotes technology sharing and enhances science, technology and innovation (STI) capacity in support of sustainable development.

Malaysia, represented by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, has served as a member of the APCTT Governing Council for the terms 2006-2009, 2014-2017, and 2017-2020 since the Centre's establishment in 1977.

Malaysia remains committed to supporting the APCTT's efforts and will continue to actively engage and contribute towards strengthening its role under the auspices of the UNESCAP.
