Foreign Secretary Velasco met with a delegation from the Los Angeles, California audiovisual industry, made up of executives and producers from international and independent studios. During the meeting, the secretary welcomed the delegation to the Foreign Ministry and called the visit a boost for filmmaking in Mexico.
"Mexico takes great pride in the growing number of productions being made in our country. We look forward to working with all of you to showcase more of our cities, beaches, towns, and culture in your films and productions. You can count on us," said Foreign Secretary Velasco.
Cristina Planter, Undersecretary for North America, noted that creative industries are a key part of North American integration, and that this can be used to generate more investment, co-productions, and opportunities. "There may be no better place than Los Angeles to start strengthening that connection," she concluded.
Farid Hannan, Head of the Economic Diplomacy Unit, highlighted the qualities that make Mexico an attractive destination for investment in audiovisual production: a business-friendly environment, exceptional locations, world-class production infrastructure, and highly skilled professionals. Daniela Zapata, Head of the International Image and Positioning Unit, highlighted the role of audiovisual productions in showcasing Mexico's diversity, talent, and creative capabilities on the world stage.
The event, held with support from the Mexican Consulate General in Los Angeles, brought together more than 100 people, including representatives from Apple TV, The Walt Disney Company, Netflix, and HBO-Warner Bros.
Thie meeting reflects the Foreign Ministry's commitment to strengthening Mexico's creative industries through economic diplomacy. The goal is to harness their potential to create jobs and economic development, and to build bridges between countries, cultures, and people.
The delegation will get a firsthand look at the strengths, infrastructure, and advantages that have made Mexico a strategic destination for investment in audiovisual production and development.
