(Washington, D.C.) On May 23, 2025, Congressman Moylan submitted hundreds of appropriations requests for Fiscal Year 2026. He aims to preserve and strengthen federal funding for our island, which makes up approximately 26.02% of the Government of Guam's operating revenues. These more than 400 requests were made in response to the proposed budget cuts made by President Trump earlier this month.
Key requests include increased funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to meet housing needs, support for the Guam Memorial Hospital TEFRA Rate Adjustment Study, and $750 million for the MARAD Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) to improve the Port of Guam's critical infrastructure.
The submissions cover a wide range of federal appropriations subcommittees aimed at supporting the Government of Guam agencies, ensuring that vital government services remain accessible to our community.
"These requests reflect the input of our community and our commitment to ensure that Guam is not left behind. From healthcare and education to military readiness and economic growth, our office is pushing for strategic federal funding that uplifts the people of Guam and strengthens our role in the region," said Congressman Moylan.
Each submission was developed through a comprehensive process that involved consulting with community leaders and government agencies to ensure alignment with Guam's unique needs and federal objectives.
"Our goal is to ensure Guam gets the federal support it deserves," said Congressman Moylan. "These funding requests represent our island's voice in Washington, D.C., and I will keep working to ensure they translate into tangible results for our people."
The appropriations process now advances to the committee review and negotiation stage in the House of Representatives. "I want to thank Senators Chris Duenas and Jesse Lujan, the personnel of our line agencies, and Adelup for their swift cooperation in gathering the vital information needed to submit these appropriations requests."Congressman Moylan ended.
