SACRAMENTO, CA - Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07) and the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) announced over $9.5 million in federal funding for the Dos Rios Multimodal Station Access Improvement Project.
"SacRT continues to be at the forefront of innovation and community-centric development - making sure our neighborhoods are connected and Sacramentans can get where they need to be," said Congresswoman Matsui. "The new Dos Rios Light Rail Station is a critical investment for the future of the River District. With this transformative project, we are enhancing mobility and igniting economic growth to improve the quality of life for those residents. I was proud to fight to secure this funding and look forward to seeing its positive impact in the near future."
"This funding is a game-changer for SacRT," said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. "The RAISE grant allows us to move forward with the Dos Rios Station project without diverting critical resources from our ongoing operations and maintenance. It demonstrates the trust and confidence our federal and local partners have in SacRT's ability to deliver transformative projects that enhance mobility and equity in our region."
The future Dos Rios Light Rail Station is located on the Blue Line on North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue in Sacramento's River District. The project consists of the realignment of approximately 1,400 feet of track, replacement and relocation of the overhead
catenary system, construction of station platforms and amenities, the addition of solar panels, and better
Complete Streets integration. This project is part of a larger Sacramento community-led effort, including the Sacramento Housing Redevelopment Agency's adjacent Mirasol Village affordable housing development among other projects, seeking to achieve major environmental, health and economic benefits in our underserved communities.
SacRT was awarded $9,586,497 in total. The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant Program, which funds surface transportation infrastructure projects with significant local or regional impact. The program provides grants for multi-modal and multi-jurisdictional projects that are more difficult to fund through other grant programs. Congresswoman Matsui previously secured $1 million for the Dos Rios Light Rail Station through Community Project Funding in the FY24 government funding package.
