SOS Election Night Returns Registration Deadline is Friday

The deadline to register for the Secretary of State's XML Newsfeed of election night returns, in this case, for the March 3 GOP and Democratic Party primary elections, is this Friday, Jan. 30.
The XML Newsfeed provides vote totals, updated every two minutes, throughout election night as soon as returns are received.
The subscription rate, approved by the SOS Elections Advisory Committee, remains $250, unchanged for the last decade or so.
The SOS will test the system well in advance of election day so newsrooms can check for any bugs prior to election night.

Should a station decide not to subscribe, staff will still be able to view the unofficial results on the Secretary of State's website at www.sos.texas.gov.
The website returns generally lag 5-7 minutes behind the subscription service.
