WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has unfrozen $124,489 in funding for Northfield Public Schools. This money will be distributed to fund 21st Century Learning Centers throughout the district.
"We must continue to support our schools and community programs so that our children can thrive," said Klobuchar. "I fought to restore this funding for Northfield so families and schools don't lose out on vital programs."
"This funding never should have been frozen in the first place. It's just another example of the administration's attempt to make reckless cuts to funding, which put the success of kids and families in Northfield at risk," said Smith. "I'm glad we pushed to get the money flowing again. If this administration is going to shell out tax cuts for billionaires, the least they can do is follow through on funding that was already promised to our public schools."
