Megan Moore selected as January 2026 Missouri Department of Natural Resources Team Me…

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JAN. 26, 2026 - Megan Moore, an environmental analyst with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Missouri Geological Survey, is the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Team Member of the Month for January 2026. She was selected for her service to the department and for her contributions while serving in the Abandoned Mine Land Program.

As part of her usual duties, Moore provides technical assistance about abandoned mine lands to Missouri landowners by conducting high-quality site investigations along with thorough analysis and reporting. She is known for her respectful, courteous and positive attitude.

Recently, Moore was able to reach milestones on a project that has been ongoing since the early 2000s. The project aims to eliminate hazardous abandoned mine land features that pose a threat to public health and safety, and negatively affect the environment. Her contributions to the project involved extensive collaboration with external partners and stakeholders, including members of the public, private landowners, local officials, the Missouri Department of Conservation and the federal Office of Surface Mining, to name a few.

"Megan's level of care, passion and personal engagement when dealing with project designs, on-site construction, technical assistance, emergency projects and landowner correspondence are the main reasons she is so deserving of this award," said Austin Rehagen, the environmental supervisor who nominated Moore for the award. "The abandoned mine lands unit and the Land Reclamation Program thank her for her excellent work and continued devotion to Missouri's citizens."

Moore joined the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in May 2020 and resides in Jefferson City.
