Lane in each direction along Oso temporarily removed as part of Caltrans project

Caltrans District 12 has started work on a project - beginning with temporarily removing a travel lane in each direction along Oso Parkway - that is located primarily along the I-5 Freeway between the San Juan Capistrano and Irvine.

The project's objective is to extend the pavement's life expectancy, upgrade lighting and signage panels as well as drainage systems. In addition to the improvements along the freeway, the Caltrans project includes various traffic signal and lane configuration modifications including the addition of bike lanes along Oso Parkway between Cabot Road and the I-5 northbound off-ramp. When completed, Oso Parkway will be configured for three vehicle lanes and a bike lane in each direction.

As part of their initial construction staging, Caltrans has removed a lane in each direction along Oso Parkway within the project limits. The City of Mission Viejo is currently working with Caltrans to provide feedback about traffic-related concerns resulting from the current traffic control layout.

If you have concerns about the Caltrans work or want additional information about the agency's project, contact Caltrans at 657-650-5146 or [email protected].
