2026 ranking marks the 16th time PECO has been recognized by Site Selection Magazine.
PHILADELPHIA (September 1, 2026) - PECO has once again earned national recognition for its pivotal role in advancing economic growth and job creation across southeastern Pennsylvania, according to the latest rankings by Site Selection Magazine. Based on responses to an annual survey and research by Site Selection staff among utilities with active economic development departments, PECO has been named one of the top U.S. utilities in economic development.
Companies were evaluated based on a points system, awarding points on a cumulative and per-capita basis for the number of corporate facility investment projects attracted in the utility's service area and the capital investment and job creation numbers affiliated with those investments across all facility types (manufacturing and industrial, office, data center, R&D, etc.).
This is the 16th time that PECO has received this recognition - a testament to the company's continued strong performance in reliability experienced by more than 1.7 million electric customers and 556,000 natural gas customers across the Greater Philadelphia region, including some of the largest companies in the country headquartered in southeastern Pennsylvania. In 2025 alone, PECO helped secure 27 new commercial projects collectively set to add more than 20,000 jobs at their facilities and nearly $30 billion in local investment.
This recognition was achieved as a result of PECO's Economic Development team and their ongoing collaboration with regional economic development organizations to raise the profile of the Greater Philadelphia region as a destination for new and expanding businesses.
"As communities and businesses across southeastern Pennsylvania continue to grow, PECO remains committed to being a trusted partner in that progress," said Carolina DiGiorgio, PECO vice president of Governmental and External Affairs. "We're focused on providing the infrastructure support, resources, and expertise needed to help bring new opportunities and investment to our area."
This recognition highlights PECO's expanded role as a strategic partner to developers, businesses, municipalities, and economic development organizations. Furthermore, it recognizes the company's efforts to enhance programs and services supporting project readiness, infrastructure planning, site selection, and business growth, including the launch of Regional Economic Development and Energy Resource Forums that connect stakeholders with valuable resources, such as guidance on utility infrastructure requirements, energy efficiency incentives, workforce development programs, and more to help advance projects throughout the region.
"With an impact of nearly $30 billion in corporate facility investment and over 20,000 jobs created, PECO continues to earn its prestigious position among last year's top performing utilities in the nation," said Kelly Barraza, managing editor of Site Selection. PECO's economic development adds to the company's deep infrastructure work in 2025 by working closely with customers, developers and government and community stakeholders on how to understand, manage and prepare for rapid growth in large-load projects. In a historic moment for power demand, PECO stands out for its skilled and multifaceted approach in growing projects and securing reliable and resilient services for corporate end users and all populations served in their territory."
"Business attraction and expansion depends on strong partners at every level, and PECO is exactly that for our region. Their economic development team moves quickly and collaboratively with us and with private companies, helping make Greater Philadelphia a more competitive place to grow a business. We're proud to count them among the partners driving this region's economic future," said Claire Marrazzo Greenwood, executive director, Greater Philadelphia Growth Partnership and executive vice president for the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia."
PECO is part of the Exelon Corporation, one of the nation's largest utility companies serving nearly 11 million customers nationally, including ComEd in Chicago, which was also named as part of this year's Site Selection rankings. This recognition is a testament to the performance Exelon delivers to customers and is attributed to the investments that are being made across the system to ensure continued customer reliability in the face of extreme weather events, and to prepare businesses and families for the future.
