NATO Deputy Secretary General visits the Netherlands

On 11 and 12 December 2025, NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska travelled to the Netherlands for a series of meetings and engagements in Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft.

On 11 December, the Deputy Secretary General visited the Port of Rotterdam, and participated in a roundtable discussion on resilience and industry with Dutch representatives from the transport and energy sectors. She also met the mayor of the city of Rotterdam, Ms. Carola Schouten, to discuss societal resilience.

On 12 December, the Deputy Secretary General spoke at an event organised by the Clingendael Institute and the Netherlands Atlantic Association, taking part in a panel discussion entitled "From The Hague to Ankara: NATO and The Future of Euro-Transatlantic Security". In her remarks, Ms. Shekerinska emphasised the need to deliver on the commitments NATO Allies made at the Summit in The Hague. As the Alliance prepares for the next Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, in July 2026, she said we must "spend more on defence together, and fairly. Boost the industrial base and spark innovation across all our nations. And keep up support for Ukraine."

In The Hague, she also met senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Justice and Security, and thanked the Netherlands for its valuable support to the Alliance and to Ukraine. In Delft, the Deputy Secretary General visited the Innovative Solutions In Space (ISISPACE) premises.
