LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON CONGRESSMAN-ELECT JAMES WALKINSHAW

Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement on the result of Virginia's 11th Congressional District special election:

Congratulations to Congressman-elect James Walkinshaw on his decisive victory in today's special election. James has dedicated his life to public service and will be a champion for the people of Northern Virginia in the People's House. He brings a wealth of experience from his time serving the late, great Congressman Gerry Connolly during Donald Trump's first presidency, and has a record of delivering results, having served as Chair of both the Legislative and Environmental Committees of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Following in the footsteps of Rep. Connolly, Congressman-elect Walkinshaw will fight to protect the healthcare of the American people and support federal workers from the overreach of the Trump administration. I look forward to welcoming him into the House Democratic Caucus family.
