SACRAMENTO - As Caltrans' work on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement "Fix50" Project approaches completion, a 55-hour closure of the northbound State Route 99 (SR 99) connector to westbound U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) is scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, June 5, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 8.

Construction crews will perform reinforced concrete work on a 24-foot-wide section of roadway along the northbound SR 99 to westbound US 50 connector.

Suggested Detour: Motorists can take eastbound US 50 to 65th Street, exit at 65th Street (Exit 8B), turn left onto 65th Street, and then use the on-ramp to westbound US 50.

The schedule is subject to change or delays due to weather, material availability, or other unforeseen circumstances.

This work is part of the ongoing U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement "Fix50" Project, which will rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes between the US 50/Interstate 5 interchange and the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and remain alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph, and the California Highway Patrol will be present to enforce traffic laws.

Caltrans District 3 maintains and operates 4,385 lane miles across 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow down in construction zones for the safety of both travelers and crews performing these improvements.
