Vehicle versus pedestrian crash

At approximately 2:15 PM personnel from the Reno Police Department, Reno Fire Department, and REMSA responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian at the intersection of Kietzke Ln and Gentry Way.

The initial investigation revealed a 91 year old male was jaywalking in heavy traffic when he was struck. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The Reno Police Department M.A.I.T. (Major Accident Investigation Team) is handling the investigation. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It does not appear that impairment or speed were a factor.

Police believe there may be witnesses to the crash that did not remain on scene. Anyone with information is urged to call the Reno Police Department's non-emergency line at 775-334-2677.
