“A Seat at the Table” event to highlight ways for Johnson County residents to serve on county boards and commissions

Johnson County residents interested in learning more about ways to contribute their time and talents to county boards and commissions will have an opportunity at the upcoming "A Seat at the Table" event on Sept. 23.

The county has more than 30 boards, commissions and task forces that give community members opportunities to share their perspectives and advise local leaders to help shape their community. The upcoming event, hosted by the Johnson County Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coalition, is a chance to learn more.

The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Carmack Room at Central Resource Library, 9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park.

Residents will have an opportunity to learn about the opportunities to serve and to see if there are any that match their interest. If residents find an area that interests them, they can receive information about next steps toward public service.
