The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) has released new materials to support local and Tribal jurisdictions in planning and executing wildfire debris removal operations. The Wildfire Debris Management Checklist and Resources, now accessible via wildfire.oregon.gov, provide comprehensive guidance for navigating post-wildfire recovery efforts.
The checklist is structured around two distinct phases of recovery:
For immediate recovery assistance, jurisdictions are encouraged to contact the Oregon Emergency Response System (OERS):
Should the Governor declare an emergency and activate the State Debris Management Task Force, additional coordination resources will be available through the State Emergency Coordination Center. Emergency managers should consult their ECC Incident Action Plans for further direction.
OEM urges emergency management personnel to incorporate these resources into local planning initiatives and to disseminate them broadly across relevant agencies and stakeholder groups. The effective implementation of these materials will contribute significantly to the state's wildfire resilience and long-term recovery efforts.
Resources are available under the After Wildfires: Recovery and Support section at wildfire.oregon.gov.
