CELEBRATING 80 YEARS OF THE UNITED NATIONS
MALAYSIA-UN : OUR SHARED JOURNEY
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wisma Putra will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations by organising a UN Day Commemorative Event from 12.00 pm to 4.00 pm, at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 27 October 2025.
The Commemorative Event is held in conjunction with the 15th ASEAN-United Nations Summit, together with the United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM), the United Nations Country Team as well as various Ministries and Government Agencies.
Under the theme "Malaysia-UN: Our Shared Journey", the main highlights of the Commemorative Event include a Keynote Address by YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, and an Executive Talk by UN Secretary-General, His Excellency António Guterres on the topic "80 Years of the UN: The Future of Multilateralism". These sessions will be streamed live via UN WebTV (https://webtv.un.org/en).
The Commemorative Event will also feature a multi-stakeholder exhibition showcasing Malaysia-UN partnership, with the participation of the Ministry of Defence; Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development; Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture; Ministry of Economy and the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre.
The Event brings together the many stakeholders working in partnership with the Government of Malaysia in advancing an inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development for the well-being of all Malaysians. They include the business community, parliamentarians, academia, think-tank, youth, non-governmental organisations, members of the civil society, the diplomatic corp and international organisations.
The Commemorative Event attests to Malaysia's long-standing cooperation with the United Nations and reaffirms the Madani Government's unwavering commitment to multilateralism and the world body.
