Tufts University Named Again to LinkedIn’s Top Colleges for Career Success

For the second year, Tufts has been ranked on the LinkedIn Top Colleges list, with Tufts ranking among the top 20 schools in the U.S. for long-term career success.

Tufts has been ranked 18 on the list, placing it among the leading colleges and universities in the nation as measured in real-world outcomes for graduates from 2020 to 2025.

The world's largest professional social network, LinkedIn created the Top Colleges list last year to identify the colleges and universities that best position their graduates for long-term career success.

LinkedIn's Top Colleges ranking is based on aggregated data from its platform-data that assesses outcomes for recent alumni across five key pillars:

• Job placement rates
• The percentage of recent graduates who completed an internship while they were undergraduates, and the demand from recruiters for recent graduates
• Career success (e.g., percentage of graduates with C-suite and/or entrepreneurial experience)
• The strength of the alumni network
• The breadth of knowledge gained in unique skills and fields of study pursued as undergraduates

The list includes only U.S.-based, regionally accredited, four-year institutions.

As part of its assessment, LinkedIn looked at nearly 1,000 regionally accredited four-year undergraduate programs that "best set their alumni up for long-term career success," according to the platform.

"Tufts alumni are invaluable partners in everything we do in support of our students," says Alayna Hayes, associate dean of career services. "Whether as mentors with the Herd, offering hands-on projects through Jumbos4Jumbos, or coming to campus for programs and career fairs, our highly engaged alumni empower our students to both see themselves in future roles and to connect to those professions."

LinkedIn named technology and the Internet as one of the top employment industries for Tufts graduates. Other top industries included capital markets and business consulting. According to the Top Colleges report, most Tufts graduates landed positions in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., and demonstrated proficiency in tangible skills such as scientific computing, CAD (computer-aided design), and development tools like SML and Erlang.

In addition to the Career Center's offerings, many offices and centers across Tufts contribute to students' readiness for professional success after they leave the Hill. To name a few, preparation for research careers is available through the VERSE, Summer Scholars, and Laidlaw Scholars programs and through opportunities at the Auster Center, while the Derby Entrepreneurship Center has numerous resources for learning about entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and management.

And last year, Tufts launched JUMP-IN, a program that gives students a chance to explore possible professional paths through immersive weeklong experiences led by faculty from a range of fields.

"We're happy to have this recognition of the preparedness of our students, the professional success of our alumni, and the power of the Jumbo network, but we refuse to rest on our laurels," says Hayes. "Across Tufts and in the Career Center, we are committed to building even more robust support systems for our students and further activating the Jumbo community to empower our alumni to thrive professionally."
