Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 20-year-old Albany man has been arraigned for stealing a vehicle and possessing an illegal weapon.
Zyquan Stanford was arraigned in front of the Honorable Roger McDonough Wednesday on an indictment that charges him with Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
In the early morning hours of May 25, Albany Police investigated an incident where two men sitting in a vehicle on Second Avenue were pulled from the car at gunpoint by a group of four males, who stole the vehicle as well as money from the passengers and then headed eastbound.
A short time later, police spotted Stanford, who was a suspect in the vehicle theft, on Colonie Street and found him to be in possession of a Glock 9mm loaded with 24 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.
Stanford pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility.
Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
