Detectives Recover More Than $30,000 in Stolen Property, Arrest Two

Kirkland, WA - Kirkland Police Department ProAct detectives recently recovered more than $30,000 in stolen property connected to burglaries and vehicle prowls across several cities, including Kirkland, Bellevue, Newcastle, and Federal Way.

The recovered property includes passports, driver's licenses, mail, two firearms, several high-end bicycles, golf clubs, tools, electronics and other items. Detectives have already identified the owners of many of the items and are working to return their property.

"This case shows the value of strong regional partnerships," said Kirkland Police Chief Mike St. Jean. "Our ProAct detectives work closely with neighboring agencies to share information, connect cases across city lines, and identify and arrest the people responsible."

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently being held at the King County Jail. Detectives are continuing to work with neighboring law enforcement agencies to connect the remaining property with theft reports and identify additional victims.

This case is also a good reminder of one simple thing community members can do to help police recover stolen property: keep a record of serial numbers. When detectives recover stolen bicycles, firearms, electronics, tools or other valuables, a serial number can quickly connect an item to a theft report and help get it back to its owner. Photos and receipts can also be helpful, especially for items without serial numbers.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The Kirkland Police Pro-Act Unit led this investigation. The unit focuses on proactive investigations targeting criminal activity impacting the community and was established through Police Prop 1, approved by Kirkland voters in 2018.
