Throughout 2024, Best Buy Health achieved remarkable milestones, solidifying our commitment to enabling care at home for everyone.
In March, we introduced the Lively Mobile2, a game-changing medical alert device offering industry-leading fall detection sensitivity in a sleek, discreet design. Beyond the device itself, users benefit from 24/7/365 support by more than 1,000 trained Caring Center Agents, ensuring safety, independence, and peace of mind for seniors and their loved ones.
We collaborated with UC Davis Health to enable care at home for patients with high blood pressure. Using our Current Health platform, this partnership empowers clinicians to monitor patients remotely, deliver timely interventions, and improve overall patient outcomes.
2024 also brought the growth of many new use cases for acute and transitional care at home. Hospital-at-home programs like those at Mass General Brigham and UMass Memorial expanded patient eligibility to include post-surgical and post-partum patients. Transitional care models like the Care after Discharge program at Virtua Health also gained momentum, allowing patients to go home from the hospital sooner with remote patient monitoring support.
Hospital-at-home programs continued to gain traction, demonstrating better patient outcomes. But this model also yields indirect benefits that are often underreported. This was the subject of a research project in collaboration with Virtua Health. That work revealed the surprising finding that the presence of a hospital-at-home program yields shorter lengths of stay for all patients, not just those cared for under the at-home model.
We also partnered with Sarah Cannon Cancer Network to demonstrate the potential of remote patient monitoring (RPM) to transform oncology care, specifically for patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T). The collaborative research team explored how RPM can improve clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction while delivering operational benefits such as reduced hospital length of stay. The findings underscore the effectiveness of RPM in maintaining patient safety and optimizing treatment regimens outside the traditional hospital setting.
In November, we welcomed 125 care-at-home experts to Boston for our third annual This Way Home summit. Leaders from health systems, health plans, and biopharma came together to share lessons learned and visions for the future of enabling care at home for everyone. Over the two days, we dove into business cases, program orchestration, caregiver experiences, digital literacy, and more. Thank you to everyone who joined us to make this event a success.
Throughout the year, our leadership team took the stage at prominent events like ViVE, HIMSS, and SXSW, engaging with thought leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in home-based care. Big shoutout to Best Buy Health's own Deborah DiSanzo for being named one of Modern Healthcare's Most Influential People In Healthcare this year.
As we close 2024, we remain steadfast in our mission: innovating, collaborating, and enabling care at home for everyone. Explore our journey at BestBuyHealth.com.
