Construction Complete at Cross Town Energy Storage Project
Cross Town Energy Storage is a lithium-ion battery energy storage project in Gorham, Maine, that provides energy and capacity services, increasing the reliability and availability of energy to the New England electric grid. Plus Power, a Texas-based company founded in 2018, awarded Cianbro the energy storage project in 2022.
The completed facility is made up of 156 individual battery storage containers, 40 power converter units, and an interconnecting 115/34.5kV substation. It is the largest facility of its kind in the state: the 175 megawatts 350 megawatt-hours of energy increases existing energy storage capacity in Maine by more than 300 percent.
Team members throughout Cianbro's Power & Energy team have worked diligently on this project with engineering and procurement, starting in early 2022.
