Hongkong Post alerts public to fraudulent Hongkong Post website

Hongkong Post today (September 22) appealed to members of the public to stay alert to a fraudulent Hongkong Post website address (hxxps://refundegadget[.]com) and to beware of fraudulent SMS messages or emails purportedly sent by Hongkong Post. The fraudulent messages provide a hyperlink that leads to the fraudulent website address above that requests the recipient to provide personal information or make a payment for postage.

Hongkong Post clarifies that it has no connection to the fraudulent website and has reported the case to the Police for follow-up. Hongkong Post reminded the public that its official websites addresses are "hongkongpost.hk" and "hongkongpost.gov.hk". Hongkong Post will only use "#HKPost" to send SMS messages to local subscribers of mobile phone services, and will use the domain name "@hkpo.gov.hk" or "@hongkongpost.hk" to send emails. Hongkong Post reiterates that it will not send embedded hyperlinks via emails, SMS messages or social media platforms for collecting payments and personal information.
