Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia Attends the Launching Ceremony for Soil Research Project under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Special Fund

On March 5th, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting, the Launching Ceremony for the project "Monitoring and Assessment of Agricultural Soil Quality in the Mekong Region" supported by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund was held in Nay Pyi Taw. Nearly 100 guests attended the event, including Ma Jia, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, Zheng Zhihong, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Myanmar's Union Minister for Science and Technology, and Dr. Aung Zeya, Myanmar's Deputy Minister for Science and Technology. Additionally, relevant government officials and experts from China, Myanmar, and Cambodia were present.

Ambassador Ma Jia stated that China stands ready to engage in policy dialogues and technical exchanges with Myanmar on agricultural soils, supporting Myanmar in enhancing soil research capabilities to promote agri-tech innovation and ensure food security and ecological stability. She also expressed the hope that all parties work together to advance the LMC over the next decade.

Union Minister Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw said that the project's research will help boost agricultural output and increase farmers' incomes, driving green and sustainable development. He emphasized that the LMC has contributed to advancing regional economic growth and improving people's well-being. He also expressed gratitude to China for its support and hoped for closer scientific and technological cooperation with other Lancang-Mekong countries.
