BOLTON, MS - Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), through its Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program, has awarded $659,341 to the Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) in Jackson, Mississippi. This award supports the continued operation of the MEP Center for Mississippi, which provides vital manufacturing extension services to primarily small and medium-sized manufacturers across the state. Through its collaborations at the federal, state, and local level, and institutes of higher education, the Center will work with manufacturers in the areas of supplier scouting, product design, automation, workforce development and planning, and training. The Center will conduct business competitive review assessments, analysis of operations, apprenticeship design. MMA continues their focus on workplace and workforce modernization strategies. |
